What would u do?

Well im thinking im about to buy a 76 F150 4x4. It has a 400 in it w/ a rebuilt tranny. It also has a 4-6" lift on it(the guys not sure) and a 3" body lift on it. But when i get it i want to put a bigger lift on it. Like a 10"! Or what would u consider for a street and muddin truck? What size tires would u run? and all that other good stuff. Please help me out!

thanks justin

If I was wanting to run a tall lift and really big tires for mudding, I would want to start out with an F350 (or at least an F250) instead of an F150. The F350 already has the heavy duty axles that you will end up wanting to swap to on the F150 once you start breaking stuff with the big tires and locking diffs you're likely to be installing.

F150 axles are Dana 44 front ~3500-3800 lbs axle weight rating and Ford 9" rear ~3300 lbs axle weight rating with 5-hole 15" wheels and small 1/2-ton brakes front and rear.

The F350 will have a Dana 60 front axle ~4800 lbs rated and a Dana 70 rear axle 6000 lbs (or greater) rated (the F250 will have Dana 60's in the front and rear) and 8-hole 16.5" wheels with much bigger one-ton brakes, which are a good thing to have when trying to stop tires that are significantly larger than stock. The rest of the drivetrain is heavy duty on these trucks as well.
