as a cheap hunting rig and was wondering about there reputation.

4speed trans. what transmission is it likely to be
transfer case is part-time but I don't remember the shift patern
front axle is a solid axle. any ideas waht came in these?
Rear end has a differential cover that is almost round.
www.off-road.com go to the BBS section and look under full size jeeps. These guys are very helpful, and you can prolly even find your answers by doing a search before you ask. I can tell you the 360 is a good motor, how be it old technology because they stopped making them in the early 80's
360 is an excellent motor but is often overlooked because they are a little more expensive to build. The transmission should be a th400, or a tf999 but both of those are 3-speeds so I don't know what the 4-speed would be. T-case is most likely an AMC quadra trac unit the chain in it will not hold up to well behind the 360 if you drive very hard. Front axle is a dana 44 rear is an AMC model 20 which should have one piece axles in a Wagonner and they are actually slightly stronger than a 44 but you should weld the axle tubes to the housing if you abuse it much they like to spin.
