Perhaps this Flash is just for the 5.4L and not the 4.6L. I took mine in today and the Service Manager test drove my vehicle and said that it was operating normal, and that my PCM was up-to-date. I dont know if I believer her. I kinda think, she was just saying whatever to get rid of me.

I had the reflash done on my 5.4 per the TSB and I hate to say that it did nothing for my poor throttle response or the rough idle. They didn't put a sticker under the hood but I verified that they actually did put new software in with my OBDII reader. The old version is RXA3AZ.HE and the new version is RXA5AZ.HE. Don't know how this number relates to the numbers that they put on the stickers.

Hondo1965 - - How was your experience at Mak Haik? I bought my 4x4 Lariat Screw there in June. Haven't needed any work done on it yet. It's all the way across town and I want to be sure it's worth the drive in case anything goes wrong. Thanks.

I thought the people at Mac Hiak were great, they fixed everything that i had issues with and didnt give me any trouble at all. Now on the other hand, i wouldnt take my dead horse to Joe Meyers Ford, they are the worst service department I have ever dealt with. I am taking my truck back to Mac Hiak soon for the reflash, the front bumper is also peeling paint and I want that fixed as well.

Just called to shchedule my first oil change (2500Mi) and asked about the PCM Flash and my dealer said no problemo. He did advise it's early in the mileage to really know response but said while your in, let's do it.

Just had my PCM reflashed today. The service writer didnt give me any backlash and said it is something they do regularly if warranted. When they actually went to do the reflash it failed due to a blown fuse. Once the fuse was replaced they claim the reprogramming was tried again and completed. They didnt put any sticker under the hood and when I asked them which update did I get, they couldnt tell me. That makes me wonder if it was really done. But the fact that I had a blown fuse leads me to believe that the communication with the PCM was not happening before I took it in, and it really wasnt running all that bad then. It is a noticeable improvement now, but I really do not know if they just changed the fuse or really did the reflash.

My dealer didn't put a sticker on mine either. It did run better afterwards.

A thought

Gentlemen, having the PCM program version is required by most states as a part of the emission standards. If they change the PCM code then it has to be shown on an add on sticker to satisfy this. So go back to the dealer and demand that they do their job and put the sticker with the new code. If they don't know what it was changed to then they have to re-read it and again, do their job. Basically, they are lazy!

No, because before you take it in, say 80 miles before, you will return it to stock tune!

Now for the bad news. After the reflash, the Superchips (or other tuner) may not work. Then you will have to write down the code it gives you, call the vendor/maker and probably ship it back to the maker. Have your recipt handy, also. Cost me 17.00 to send it to Superchips, when I had a reflash, and took them three weeks to return it. Normally it's a little quicker.

Chris
