Dual tank switch

I have a '87 302 E150 van (much loved conversion van) with a dual tank setup.

The setup hasn't been able to switch in years. I had trouble on the highway where I ran one dry and it refused to switch and stopped using it.

Now that I think about it, it would be handy to have that system working again. It has a really complicated switching valve with a plug with a lot of wires in it. Thing is, it looks like some idiot tried to diagnose it once by piercing the insulation on the harness side, like 1/4" from the plug, right where they bend. I can't see if any wire is corroded through or broken but it doesn't look good. It is too close to the plug to cut the wires and do proper splices.

Is there any source at all for that plug? Or, the broader question, is there a likely reason why the tank switching doesn't work? Should I get a new switch valve? Where could I get a replacement? I believe I called the dealership a long time ago and it was discontinued. Is there an aftermarket part I could put in there?

Looking back, I think I have committed the cardinal sin of posting a non-engine question on the engine section.
Admin, you wanna kill this?

There have been several discussions in this group on the dual tanks and the valve. Seek and you shall find.

Additionally, I took one apart and took some photos.
