Well, we (my 16 year son and I) got our 390 put back together. Changed the rear main seal and installed a new Felpro gasket kit and water jacket plugs. The newly painted blue engine is going back into our 66 swb after we paint the firewall rangoon red. Inner fenders and radiator support got the semiflat black paint a few weeks ago.
One problem... we noticed the water pipe on the intake (the one that connect to the water pump) was rotted through. I managed to get in off of the intake, but don't know where to go to get a new one. any pointers would be appreciated. It appears to be a friction fit since I did not notice any threads.
I was hoping to get the tube and install itmyself since I have already installed the intake on the engine. Thanks for the suggestion, I may try a machine shop to see if they'd sell me the tube
You used to be able to get that right from the dealer, part number C5AZ 8555-A. NAPA makes a equivalent to it. Take the number I listed and have them cross it over to thier number.
That's a good Ford number but I wasn't able to find one for my 352! If you look back in my old post you will see that this is a fimiliar story. I ended up having a friend of mine turn down a piece of half inch pipe that I tapped into place. It worked fine. Copper pipe will fit but I was worried about dissimular metals and corrosion and that sort of thing so I went with steel. If you could pull one out of an old water pump that was still good, it would work. Take my advice, I'm not using it!
