Another Tach Question

I am thinking about putting an aftermarket tach in my '78 F100 with the 300. But it doesn't have a tach at all. Would i need to buy an aftermarket ignition box or is there already a way to add a tach?

You don't need a ignition box because it hooks up to the ignition coil.

You've got 3 wires i think to hook up. One to illuminate the gauge at night. The second goes to the (-) side of the coil and the other should go to the (+) side if i remember correctly. No new ignition box required.

Most Tachs have 4 wires

White = Lights
Red = 12V Fused Power
Blk = Ground (go directly to battery with this one.)
Grn or Yel = Signal to Tach. Depending on make you would go to either the coil or an ignition box (Dodge is notorious for this). Like desperado said it goes to the neg. (-) side of the coil.

Pretty straight forward and they do come with instructions in English, French, Spanish............
