2002+ Tip

Beware of this one.

Slid the power drivers seat on my 2002 XLT all the way forward (to the stops) to vacuum under it. Went to move it back when finished and.... nothing.

I could hear the motor was trying to move it, but it was jammed.

Had to remove the seat then proceeded to tap on every joint in the system to free it up. It seems one of the jack screws overtravelled the sliding mechanism. By luck, I finally tapped the right area after an hour of fooling with it.

Avoid moving power seats all the way forward. Words of experience.

Interesting. The seat in my wifes 2002 did the exact same thing repeatedly until a couple of years ago. Jammed full forward. I found that by loosening the left rear seat frame to floor pan bolt and forcefully wiggling/rotating things it would unjam. The dealer eventually replaced that entire seat frame assembly under warranty with no further problems.

Thanks for the tip. I'll check the wife's '03 while it's under warranty to see if this is a problem.
