Big truck Comparison

I've been seeing a ton of older Ford Louisville series L-8000 and L-9000, as well as the LTL-9000 trucks on the road recently, and I was wondering how they compared to the GMC Brigadier and Chevy Kodiak.

I see far more of the old fords around here. My father has worked on both, and claims the fords had less problems, and the cat motor that GM got stuck with wasn't worh the money. These are what he had experienced in the field... I never really took the time to compare them tho.....

Kinda off subject but..

I was Kinda miffed, as I saw a gm commercial advertising the sierra as having the most towing capacity, properly setup of course.. When I checked the website, It said when properly equipped it could haul 16,800 pounds.
What is Fords superduty towing capacity maxed out at? For some reason I thought Ford had A Higher towing capacity?
This was the GMC 1 ton (3500) dually.

For '05 Ford is rated at 17,000lbs. They are using the '04 ratings as long as they can.

The ford can actually pull quite a bit more... It's what the brakes can handle before you need trailer brakes. However I wouldn't dare try to pull that much with no brakes on the trailer. My dad pulled somewhere around 12k with his E150.... With trailer brakes of course, it was a little much for his 302, but he didn't have any trouble maintaining 55mph.

I was wanting to compare the big rigs, not pickups. I know we got off topic a little, but let's try to keep it on the original topic: Ford Louisville Series trucks vs. GMC Brigadier/Chevy Kodiak trucks.
