I love 73 to 79 ford trucks also. I have owned 3 of them and I still have 2.

The first one is a 1979 F150 ranger lariat 4x4, the other one is a
1977 F250 ranger xlt factory highboy.

I had a '79 F250 2WD before I got my '88, and I loved it.It was a great truck and carried me thru a lot of tough times.I would've kept it,but it started having too many little troubles for me to deal with in limited amount of time I had to work on it.Fortunately I sold it to a guy who was gonna take the time to take care of it.That was a GREAT truck!!

Thumbs up 1973-1979 Ford Pickups

I have a restored 1974 4/2 F100. The truck has been in the family since it was new. It was my father-in-laws. I bought it in 1978, the truck had rust. In 1983 we restored the truck from the frame up, all new fenders, new box, tailgate, grill, back bumper. This truck has a 360 V-8 which was a good engine, was known for valve guide problems, either you got a good one or a bad one. In 1991 the valve guides were bad, so we replaced the heads. I forgot to mention in 1983 when we restored this truck we removed the windshield, vent windows. The truck was painted the originial color Midnite Blue. We replaced all the rubber moldings, windshield vent windows, glass after the truck was painted. This took a total of 6 months to complete. We made sure the primers were dry before the main color was shot. This was all hand sanded down, and 4 coats of clear coat was applied, hand sanding between each coat. I am so glad that we took our time, it paid off because the truck was restored 21 years ago, the paint looks as good as it did in 1983. There are not many of these beautiful trucks left. When I drive it I get alot of looks. Since I am knew to FTE, I will try to get pictures of this truck on this website. I think you would appreciate the looks of this truck. No wavy lines, straight as an arrow.

Talking I Love 73-79.s

I have a 1974 F-100 4x2 that has been in the family since new. I restored the truck in 1983 from the fame up. It looks as good as the day we restored it. We took all the glass, window frames, rubber moldings before we shot the originial color, midnight blue. Replaced all the fenders. box, tailgate, moldings. I put 4 coats of clearcoat, handsanded each coat. I sure would like to add the pictures, however, they're not accepting pictures now. Anybody, let me know what you think.

Hello all! This is my first post! I have owned my '76 F250 4x4 for 14 years now, since I was 18. It is Midnight Blue Metallic (hence the username). I REALLY love these trucks, and feel like some others that have posted here. I bought mine from the original owner. He replaced the original 360 with a 428, and I have since converted to 460. I am in the process of converting from 4-speed to 5-speed. I have never poured a ton of money into her yet, but she has pretty much been there for me. She's got original paint (showing its age a little), and 120K original miles. She's thirsty, of course, so I it's only an occasional use rig (was my 2nd daily driver when I bought it, though). Since I have no garage, the weather up here is taking its toll, so I sadly need to do some damage control, but I have kept it going so far. [A little tip on the typing - an apostrophe is only used for ownership or a contraction for 'is'] Bye for now!!!!

Sounds like a couple of nice looking blue Ford pickups you guys have! I am just now finishing up the restoration on my 73 F100. I was just painted around Thanksgiving time. It's 2-tone shell white and sequoia brown(original colors). I've started putting the chrome moldings back on it, and I think I may do some work on putting the interior back in this week.

A flareside and a stepside are the same thing. Flareside is Fords' term for stepside.

They are the same! Check out a Ford pickups sales brochure from 79. The stepside pickup is listed as a "flareside". I have both a 77 and a 92 flareside. They are totally different body styles, but both are considered flaresides. The terms flareside, stepside, fenderside, etc. all basically mean the same thing.
