Question A/c Filter

Anyone know if there is a filter for an f-350 a/c. Blows a bit harder on max but i've seen better. fan works good though seems restricted. Found plasic bag in fan once under dash...not this time though...any ideas?

Thanks, Doug

Cool no filter?

It seems there is no filter. So I guess ford would buy an a/c system for there show room without a filter. or perhaps they never change the cooler filter in there shops. Cummon what were they thinking. I was told they dont have a filter so the condensor collects dust and you have to tak it out to clean. I live in a dust bowl. Hell on earth. Bakersfield. So now the a/c is weak. Must be clogged as ford knew would happen when they engineered it. Anyone for an engineers firing squad. Bet they wouldnt put in these con jobs to screw you on maint if they let consumers take them to court with a death sentence on conviction. GZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ...

Spray some Lysol in the cowl and interior vents. Should clear up the stink

Does your truck sit around much? If so, you may have a mouse nest in the blower motor compartment. Just cleaned one out of my grandpa's truck which had the same problem.

Should be on the firewall near the right fender. Remove the blower motor and check behind it. You might also check the ductwork inside if you don't see anything near the motor.

Have you physically replaced a filter on yours? I was told it doesn't exist but if you are for certain i'll dig in!

Thanks,

Doug

my understanding of it, if you have a filter in your HVAC system it would be under that panel behind your glove box. when i looked in there i saw a little panel with air blowing out of it. it looked more like a little radiater, may have been some kind of crude filter. I think i read somwhere you need some ford kit to put a filter in. i dunno, im sure somebody makes one.

I think there is a cab filter on those.

I saw the radiator thing. That I believe is the heater core. Ford said there is no filter. Anyone see a filter on these f350's..?

In my experiences with my old half ton, the fan is located on the firewall on passenger side, as you know. It is just a squirrel cage fan which basically moves ambient air (non-pressurized). There isn't anyway to filter this air and still get air movement out of the vents. If you are not getting enough air out of the vents, it would have to be the fan or the duct work.

As far as the smell of dust, I am guessing that the fan has sucked plenty of it up and deposited throughout the ductwork.

This could be totally wrong with the newer electronic trucks. But I had a problem with engine corrosion in my old truck (1990 F150) and had to switch heater cores every three months or so. Wasn't so bad in the summer, but gets cold in the winter (Nebraska) with a plugged heater core.

Just my .02

No a/c filters on the 99-present Super Duties. Only Excursions (I think they have one).

The Ford dealer has a foam that they can spray into the airbox where it expands. It is supposed to sanitize and remove smells. Had it done on my F350 to remove a diesel smell from the A/C and it worked ok.

AC Filter

Nearly every auto producer sprays the condensing unit with an antimicrobial blend. Depending on the formulation type, you will get a "musty" odor from the antimicrobial material.
