I have a 1993 Ford Bronco with a 9 inch lift and 38's with 4.56 gears and i was driving to the beach today and about halfway into the drive smoke started coming out of the side of my engine compartment and the temp guage said the engine temp was normal and the guage is fine and working. Also, no power was taken away from my truck while the smoke was coming out. I do have a power tuner on my truck as well if that helps anybody. I was wondering if anyone has ever had this problem or if anyone has any ideas, I have to drive the truck all the way back home on moday. Thanks so much.
its possible oil has leaked out of your valve covers and got on your manifolds or headers (whichever u have). I have gotten smoke before just out of nowhere cause some oil got on the manifolds which it came from some built up oil on the valve cover edge.
If it was oil tigerhawk_212 is right on. valve covers leak on these motors.crawl under the truck look up at the back of the motor is it full of oil, like its leaking out of the valve covers in back running down the motor.
My Bronco hasnt started smoking yet... But, my valve covers leak too. I need to replace them but there is too much stuff I have to take off to get to them. Any suggestions?
