Installed rear main seal
Never. Ever. Again.
The old seal pretty much crumbled out of my hands. But I did learn some tips to help out any other fools that want to tackle this.
The flywheel bolts have to be tightened in a certain pattern, between 75 and 85 foot pounds. Follow this.
Clean the hell out of the surface after removing the old seal. Brake cleaner worked awesome.
Run a bead of lock tight around the perimeter of the new seal before installing, and use some grease on the inside of it. A mechanic friend told me of the lock tight and said it would help prevent the seal being blown of pushed out from high oil pressure.
Final tip. Pay some one else to do it.
