400 pistons--again
I have come up with plenty of suggestions by looking in the past articles. I have been looking for the past year, on and off, and cannot find anyone marketing a hi-comp 400 piston. I was wondering if anyone has tried a 300 piston or would this be new terrirory?
You can find them readily, and the 300 I-6 was a popular engine, so these pistons will not be in and out of circulation. And best of all, they have the same pin diameter (.975) and some have close compression heights. I have found one piston, FT, that produces the same (almost) compression as my '73 400 - 8.4:1. There is another with a "D" recessed head that produces about 9.0:1. The only concearn with this piston is that block clearance is -.024 (it sticks out .024"), but it does have a .026 recess, meaning that for the most part, it would be like a FT with .002 deck clearance.
If anyone has comments, or could relieve my conscerns, have at it.
He has a brand new 400 high cr piston and may also still have the Badgers.
