I need to replace the seals on my truck cap. However the scres has a "square" opening instead of torx or philips head. Is there a name for the special tool required to remove these screws??
What you're looking for are robertson screwdrivers...they're pretty much all we use in Canada. I would suspect that your regular hardware stores will carry them. If you ever want to hear the story of the robertson screw, just let me know...it's actually quite interesting.
If you follow that link, it will explain it better than I ever could. I've always found it interesting that if one man had of been less stubborn, North American manufacturing would be very different. Maybe I'm the only one who is a nerd about such things though.
As a side note to that story, I believe the patents have since expired and these screws are now manufactured by our neighbours to the South as square head screws. They don't seem to have caught on though judging by the American made products that I come across.
