front end swap

did any of the older explorers have a solid front axel? im looking for a solid front axel for my 88 fl50 and a bud of mine has a explorer that wast flip that he took the engine and tranny out of. any help will be appreciated. sorry dont know the year

No, all Exploders are twin I beam up until the change to control arms.

Last "small" Ford with a solid front axle would be a early-mid 60's Econoline.

F 350 & up has them. Adapting will be a chore.

Jeep's have straight axles with coil springs, but it's too small for an F150/

thanks 85. it was either this or me make my own drop brackets so i guess thats the way im heading. thanks for the input

Exporer axle would be too short for an F-150 anyway. You didn't state if it's 2X4 or 4X4. 2X4 Fords have had twin I-Beam front axles since the late 60's, however 4X4 axles were solid until either the 80's or early 90's. Seems like the old '78 Bronco 4X4 I used to have (old full size one) had a solid front axle.
