Drove my 4x4 through a mud puddle well over the wheels about 40 feet long. When I moved forward at a quick pace it went over the hood. Went through it three times as I was with a few guys and their trucks... didn't want to be the laughing stock. Took my two boys (at the time they were 7 and 9). I took my truck to the local trails about a month and a half after I got it. Did a pretty good job of scratching it up, but most of my buddies tell me "it's a truck, so what?" My truck wasn't Island Blue when I got done, it was mud brown.
I'll agree with Roger, there is a lot to be said for momentum. If my truck had stopped it would have sucked in a lot of water, mud and who knows what else. I drug the front diff most of the way... guess that's why there's such things as swampers and lifts. There's also something to be said for the carpet delete option, too.
