2000, F-250, Crew, 4WD, V-10. I am looking to replace the shocks but not spend an arm and a leg. I won't do any "off-roading". Mostly the truck is for hauling/towing and transportation. So, I'd like a nice ride and hopefully improve the steering a little bit with a new front stabalizer (solid front axle). Any suggestions? Prices you all have paid? (I would install myself.) Thanks for the help!!!!!
I bought my Bilsteins from http://www.eshocks.com
They have free shipping on orders over $200.00
I am very happy with the way they perform, it was a night and day difference going from OEM to Bilsteins. You will noitce a stiffer ride but handling improves alot.

The best I can tell from reading all the comments on here, the Ranchos are for off-roading, and the Bilsteins are for on-road activities. Some folks like the adjustibility of the Ranchos, even for towing however. I personally plan to go with the Bilsteins myself. One more thing to adjust just doesn't excite me that much.........
I went with the Monroe Reflex shocks and love them! They are the exact same shock as the Rancho RSX on cheaper, they are both made by the parent company (Tenneco). I did not want to fork out the cash, nor did I like the color of the Bilsteins. Guys on this site swear by them.
You can't go wrong with Bilsteins, they work and work very well. Take a look at some of the off road racing sites, what you'll find is that Bilstein and Fox are the shocks of choice. Bilsteins are a little bit more user friendly in the fact that they have replacement shocks that bolt right in. Fox has a great product also but you may have to take the time to valve them the way you want (some people like that, some don't). These shocks can stand the heat a lot better than anything I've found and I've used both (can you say washboard roads in mexico?). Either way both are a quality product. Just my dos centavos. good luck.
I went with the Edelbrock reservoirs. They are new this year. Peterson's 4 wheel and offroad did a test on shocks and these ranked as an overall performer. They are $179.00 a piece (kinda pricey). I have 4 upfront and 2 in the rear. They are nitrogen charged and offer a "nice" ride, along with my EDGE kit. Unfrotunately, I did not opt to utilize the reservoir clamp setup that came with it (cr*p). I purchased billet clamps ($20.00 a piece/2 per shock) that raised the price even more. THEY LOOK PRETTY BITC*EN THOUGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I would not put PRO COMP anything on my truck, even if it was free. Just my opinion.GOOD LUCK
