Replacing power steering pump

Any tips on replacing a power steering pump (mine is leaking out of the case apparently). Special tools, best way to drain, bleed, etc?

Thanks,
Mark

You need special tools to take the pump pully out then unscrew the bolt to separate the pump from the bracket. Last time I tried to overhaul the pump because it make a lot of whining noise. I had to fabricate a tool to remove the pully. To install the pully , you need another tool. First I drain some of the fluid by disconnecting the rubber hose underneath that run to the oil cooler. Then undo the retrn and supply line and it is not that messy.

The following link is for ford explorer but I think the power steering pump design is similiar to aerostar. It gives you some useful ideas.
