Question Wheel Spacers?

I like the look of tires and rim sticking out of the wheel wells alittle. and instead of buying new rims for the offset I wanta take 1/2 steel, cut it out to fit my spindle between the rotor and the back of the rim. Has anyone done that on a truck and will that put stress on anything

I don't think that's a good idea at all. There are many companies that make them but one of the best is correctrack. I had them on my GMC and they never gave me any trouble. I have a friend who runs a garage and he says that a lot of people buy cheap ones and the wheels sometimes come off the vehicle.

They MAY cause some additional rear-end wear if they aren't done right. Even if you don't buy the correcttrack spacers (they are expensive), check out their website, there is some useful information there.

Flat out... they are an awful idea, especially for heavy rigs like pickup trucks and SUVs. Those spacers put much undue stress upon the lugs, axle, and bearings. It is a sure fire way to get yourself in trouble.

Thanks for the information, After reading the threads I don't think I'm going to do that.

wheel bearings

I've heard the theroy of extra stress on wheel bearings cause it moves the tire out from the hub, but whats the difference from that and a offset rim that moves the tire out? just curious
