I have an '89 F150, 4WD, 5.0, Automatic that is worth keeping.
I also have a '92 F150, 2WD, 6 cyl., 5 spd that is not worth keeping.
Can I take the manual transmission from the '92 and install it in the '89?
How much work are you talking about. Will it be all wrench turning or will it entail moving/replacing a crossmember. Would the bell housing from the 6 cyl fit the 5.0L? Any Idea of the output shaft of the maunal trans, will it fit the 4WD trasfer case? If I've got to scrounge around bone yards looking for bits or having to dissect the trans, it's not worth the trouble. The '89 runs and drives nearly perfect with 80k miles on it.

never actually dones this but you will need to move the cross member/ or get a new one. Get a flexplate and the only thing that seems like a pain is the gear selector. oh and the driveshaft. Not sure it it will fit or not.
I don't think the tailshaft on the 5 speed is removable (I could be wrong, though) but if that's the case, then you won't be able to bolt the transfer case to the tranny. You'll need to get a 4wd transmission to do this swap.
