Engine Sound problems/sound files attached

I've come accross some sounds in my engine bay of a recently purchased f-150. It's a 1990 XLT 5.8ltr

This is a whining sound. Get's louder as rpms increase. Seems to be coming from the alternator area/tensoner. First I thought it was the tranny but it's from the engine bay. Get's worse as the day get's warmer.

This sound is coming from the fuel rail/injectors. Is this normal? What sounds like static is the sound coming from this area.

This is definitly the power steering pump. Fluid is fine but it makes noise when turning.

Thanks,
Dominic

Well, I can def tell you that the pwr steerin pump is fine, mine makes that rrrrrrrrr-rrrrrrrr sound when Im turnin the wheel. The injectors, well, I never listened to them and I dont know if its normal. Try runnin some super concentrated injector cleaner. I dont know if I could hear the whining sound, is is a whining sound or a ticking? It could be a cracked manifold. Never hurts to look. Srry I couldnt be of more help.

Sound

Yeah, already ran some seafoam through it twice in two weeks. I believe they started to tick (injectors) after that. Maybe to clean. <grin>

Actually, I'll have someone rev the engine and record the sound again. It's louder then.

So you think the power steering is fine? Kind of annoying sound.

Later,
Dominic

Yea, the PS is fine , youll get used to it after a while. My grandfathers and cousins truck make the same noise. After reading up on the injectors(at least on my truck) is says there should be an audible, evenly spaced injector pulse noise. Is the ck engine light on? Try pullin the codes to be sure. When I first got my truck, I heard all sorts of noises, ticks, clunks, rattles and stuff. I got used to all of them or fixed 'em after a while. Many noises with engines are related to mileage and age of the truck. Id just drive it for teh time bein, see if the noises stop and not worry alot bout it.

more sounds

I've been getting rid of codes for the past two weeks. I won't go into that part but all codes have been cleared. I'll have to live with the power steering then.

Your right, there are sounds all over this truck (137,000 miles). I'm slowly investigating them but would like to quite down the engine compartment.
Really the only sound now that bothers me is a whine at speed. I believe it's coming from the engine. I'll get a better sound file tommorow.

Thanks,
Dominic

I had a similar whine that I thought was the alternator.

Turned out to be the smog pump (located right under the alternator on my 1987 351w)
