When I let my 2003 7.3L PSD sit for a few days, my power steering fluid overflows out of the cap vent hole. When I remove the cap it is full. I've never added any fluid and the problem just showed up after 24,000 miles. When I start the truck now the pump wines whenever I steer or use the brakes.
I know the power steering pump runs the power brake booster which is higher in the system than the fill for the pump.
Has anyone else had this problem before, and how did you fix it?
Are there check valves in the lines to keep the oil in the booster?
Am I supposed to fill the pump while the engine is running?
Dealer is clueless so far, so any help would be appreciated.
