I am new to the forum and new to Ford truck. I just bought my uncles' old 1984 F150 4x2 truck. It only has 91000 miles on it but is in serious need of some TLC.
Does anyone know what years can I swap the seat with for just a direct bolt up? Also the same for the bed.....it has some serious rust in the usual places (so I have noticed) and I think it would be better to just swap the entire bed....thank you in advance for the help and I am sure I will be back.....like I said this thing needs some serious catching up on TLC......
Everything from the doors forward stayed the same from 1980-1986. The doors stayed the same from 1980-1996, except for the interior panels and holes for the sideview mirrors. The cab, is 1980-1986. You can use beds from 1980-1996, just the taillights changed a little.
Also the seats are from 1980-1996 I think, not sure about direct bolt in.
The seats from an 80-96 will bolt right in with no problem, as long as you go from bench to bench or buckets to buckets. If you go from a bench to a bucket seat, you might have to do some fab work, but not enough to keep you from doing it right.
As far as the bed goes, any 80-96 bed will also fit, but the lower lip of the wheel well is a little different from 87-96 compared to 80-86. It's not ugly and you have to look hard to notice it. The good thing about an 87-96 bed is that they are a little less prone to rust than the earlier models.
Good luck!
Yeah, the only difference other than taillights is that the 80-86 fender was more square around the wheel opening and the 87-91 is more round. But as big Hoss stated, it doesn't look bad. As far as wiring/mounting the bed it is the same.
I've been trying to get that info on the beds for about a month now. thanks guys. really helpful.
i'm wanting to put a later model bed on my 80 swb 4x4. does anyone know what year bed the guy in the gallery has on his "red 82 f150 4x4"?
