My Mark system's CD player does not recognize the CD's in the magazine. The display will cycle through the 6 slots (all with CDs) but return a "MAG EMPTY" message, has anyone else experienced this problem and if so what did it take to fix this?
I have had this problem when I installed an aftermarket cd changer (kenwood) and kept the stock head unit. I bought a wire harness that allows it to plug right into the stock harness and it would say mag empty when it was not getting a good connection. when you pulll the stock head unit from the dash, their is not much room to push all the wiring back in and be able to slide the head unit back in. You may have loose connection there. Or try a cd cleaner.
I wish I didn't have to get into the dash because of all the wiring but if I take this thing to the dealer I know I'm going to get hit hard with a labor charge.
You suggest that I should try a cd cleaner, can the cd read this with the malfunction I am experencing?
the changers in the Fords are the worst pieces of crap ever.
They are made by Clarion(who usually makes good stuff), but I had the same issue in our old Explorer. I just bought a re-furbed replacement one on Ebay for $40 and it worked great. easy to replace.
The laser pickups fail on them after 2-3 years according to the repair techs at most stereo shops.
