Have noticed about 4 times now my 4 wheel winds up in high range without my knowledge. Today in a parking lot it went in when I started off. Has anyone else had this happen? 2001 F 350. Thanks, much enjoy the comments on here.
Actually going into 4 wheel. Could hear the clunking or scraping when I turned the corner. Stopped, backed up after putting switch back to 2 wheel, all is fine again. Switch actually moves to 4 wheel.
slight windshield leak, lost me on that one. Had it replaced last summer, never had any water leak into truck that I know of. Small rock star chip in it now. 25000 miles on it, shouldn't wear out that fast.
The reason I asked was that if these GEMs get wet they can fail progressively over time. Water is bad enough on any electronics, but makes this thing act up.
Have you got a Haynes or Chilton's manual? It can tell you how to replace the Gem - IF it's the culprit.
If there's anything else I can't think of it right now.
The solenoid or relays wouldn't cause it, I don't believe.
