Im 16 years old and just got my first truck, its a 1971 f100 with a 390 in it with a holley 4bbl. I was looking for some info on the truck like quick bolt ons for extra power or looks.
Congrats on your first truck. My first one was a 69 3/4 ton. Man I had some good times in that thing. Now I have two 67's and I'm working them to perfection. I have found that there is no quick bolt on for power. Just give it a great tune up and oil and lube the entire truck. Maybe tune/rebuild your Holley and advance your timing for a little extra. I think these trucks look great the way they are. Good luck!

Congrats on your truck. Some people like hedders, I don't like to mess with leaks, etc. You can install a larger distributor cap and can convert to the Durospark ignition. I use an MSD in mine.
Congratulations on your truck. I'll soon be buying my son an old truck. He wants something he can work on. In my '69 F100, I run a Pertronix Ignitor ignition and an Accel Supercoil with 8.5mm plug wires. Get you some Flowmaster 40's and 2.5 inch exhaust, that's my preferance but these guys can tell you alot more. You've come to the right place.
You know what they say about buying a boat, it's a hole in the water that you pour money into. I have a boat and a truck, and there's no end to it if you want to upgrade. But I look at it as a fun thing, and not work. (Especially when strangers yell "nice truck".
No disrespect... but, be careful young dude. Lots of power there for you. On wet pavement, it's way easy to get sideways. On dry pavement, it's way easy to get sideways. Try to make it to 21, then 30, etc... It's good to be 21, it's better to make it to 30 etc... Have fun, but be careful.
congrats on the new pickup. My first one was a 62 4x4 ford that i got this time last year and my newest pickup is a 71 4x4 ford f-100 w/ a 390. I am also 16 and have been doing nothing but work all summer, so dont get the idea that im a spoiled kid guys. Having a pickup is nice, especially one of the older ones that you can call yours. Theres also nothing like burning one of the little ricers at a stop light w/ you old ford pickup (one of my dreams yet to be fullfiled (sp)).
p.s. and take sams advice about the driving to fast on anything. And pay extreem caution to wet pavement, its a lot slicker than dry pavement (ask the bumper and right fender of my 62 ford )
