A few times over the past 5-6 weeks, I'll put the key in, turn it and get nothing. The gauge needles will move and the idiot lights will come on but it will not start. Turn it back off and try again and it will start. I may have to try several times or take the key out and turn it over but it will eventually start.
Is the tumbler going bad or is it a loose/bad connection? Or maybe somthing else?
My first guess would be the starter solenoid, or the starter itself. I have had this problem before, and have helped people with the same problem. It will stop altogether sooner or later. I would check that solenoid, if all your guages are working when you turn the key.
Also check and clean the battery terminals and the starter connections. If your guages sweep back and forth for a second and then level out once it starts, you may have a battery that is about to die.
Thanks for the replies. I don't think it's the battery or at least I would hope not as it is only 11 months old. I'll check the terminals, cause now that I think about, I did add a 6 accessory fuse block about the same time I started having problems. Will also check the starter connections and let you guys know.
I just ran a new wire for my existing fog lights. I didn't like the inline glass fuse holder. Also gives me room for anything else I might want to add later!
