Has anyone used those interior door panels I see in the J.C. Whitney catalog?
My '77 F250 was a $500 acquisition, and it lives on a shoestring budget. But after I do something about the carburetor, I wouldn't mind replacing the disintegrating interior door panels. I seen J.C. Whitney advertising two versions. The "Deluxe" has padded armrest and is $242.99 for a pair. The "standard" is one piece molded ABS, and is $199.99 for a pair. At the moment, I'm not ready to spend $200+ on my interior, buy maybe in the future....
A friend thought my odds of finding good interior panels in the wrecking yard were not good.
Of course, it's a WORK truck. It might be fun to make my own interior door panels of something like aluminum diamond plate.
Just curious as to what other guys do when their truck interior looks like crap and money is really tight.
They carry reproduction 73-79 Ford truck door panels in 8 colors:
Black, Dark Blue, Light Blue, Dark Brown, Light Brown, Red, Gray and Maroon.
You can purchase a pair for $140. Shipping is free. Panels come with padded armrests.
Both of these suppliers state that you may have to paint the new panels to match your rig.

That sounds pretty good. Unless I stumble onto a junk truck with good interior panels, I'll take a look at these. The J.C. Whitney price was $200 for a pair, and those were basic molded panels with hard armrests. Their fancier ones with padded armrests were $243. And they always charge a lot for shipping and handling.
BTW, my '77 is light blue, and the interior door panels are dark blue.
Good luck find any usable panels in any junkyard anywhere, these things are notoriously rickety, and I have seen no door panels in the 'yards that were in better shape than what I currently have (which ain't great).
The Buy It Now price is $98.
Auction ends September 5 at 445 p.m. Pacific time.
Note that this auction is for only ONE door panel, not a matching pair. I assume you can specify which side you want if you buy from this guy. So when it comes right down to it, he wants $200 a pair as well...
one of them is broken around grill, maybe put a speaker grille over it. Can't beat the price. But if you use the ones that have the extra padded area, then the window cranks are different. The shaft is longer.
I just found somw lariat panels in the junkyard for $10! I also picked up the seat that is in great shape for $20. Best find I've had so far for the truck!
I got mine from NPD, for about $130 a pair. It's a little more expensive for a color other than black. I got the ones that you swap you original armrest onto. They look good, and fit nice too. They came with mounting clips as well. They have ones with molded armrests for a little cheaper I think. Can't find the catalog right now, or I would give you an exact price. Check the website, and get a free catalog, can't hurt.
LOL! ms_michelle! Remind me what a great shopper I'm NOT. Now tell me they were WONDERFUL door panels, and sold for WAY less than the J.C. Whitney price!
This is a learning experience for me (like learning my F250 is a Custom, not a Camper Special -- even though the guy selling it showed me all the camper stuff and called it a Camper Special). I really appreciate all the help. I'm going to have to learn to remember to check ebay for just about anything. Who knows? Maybe I'll even learn how to sell some of my old automotive stuff one ebay, possibly even MAKE money (dare I dream it!?) so I can afford to fix up the old Ford like it deserves.

Buy the original ones. The ones J.C. Whitney is probably selling differ somewhat from original in looks and how the attach to the doors. You pay more if you buy them from Dennis Carpenter, but they look and fit right.
