New to the board and new to Fords. We recently "acquired" a 96 F-150 2wd with a 300 I6, the M5 OD mannual tranny and a 3.33 rear end. The truck's in great shape, I'm just finding it lacking in power and mileage even after doing a thorough tune on it. I'm planning on doing an engine re-build for it and am trying to get a direction, especially on cams. Just what is possible on the EFI motors? Seems like most of the research I've been doing is mainly on carb'd engines.
I've corresponded with Clifford Performance about this. They are claiming with their porting and milling of the head, 264 camshaft, headers and a y-pipe will result in 185 rear wheel horse and 70% more torque than stock. Sounds a little too good to be true.
