I believe you should do what's right! situations like this have a funny way of rearin' itself right back atcha! the old sayin "What goe's around........."! Murphy's Law! but who care's, right! you were the victim here and if you choose not to repair your truck with insurance payout, so be it. but if a situation like this happens again, you might be on the giving rather then the receiving end! and it's an Ugly place to be with your personal insurance company. Just My2centz!
thanks mzimmers for your reply, and NO i'm not trying to commit fraud! i'm trying to figure out if it is possible to go get an estimate, and instead of fixing the damage, deal with it, and use the money for something else.
This is not insurance fraud, it is getting legitimate estimates and doing the repair yourself. I have done so several times.
Getting an artificially inflated estimate like requested below for the reason stated below is insurance fraud.
do any of you know of a place in southern california to get a high estimate on repairs, so i can get some extra performance parts at this woman's expense from her insurance? i know it sounds wrong, but this woman asked for it. it's because of her, i missed my little sisters surprise birthday party.
Your anger at the responsible party is understandable, taking it out on her insurance company is not. The high performance parts at this woman's expense would not be paid for by the woman but by her insurance company, who had absolutely nothing to do with the accident.
No, I am not an insurance agent or related to any insurance company in any way, other than paying my premiums. I don't want them to go higher.
believer 45 the first part of your response was my clarification, and yes you are right, nothing wrong with doing that. i asked my INSURANCE adjuster and he said it would be no problem since i own my car,...no lien, i paid cash. the second part of your post, although correct, is not what i meant to imply. that's why i clarified myself in my second or third posts.
NOW FOR THE FLAME THROWING, TO THE DUDES WHO SAY, "NO DON'T DO IT CAUSE IT WILL RAISE MY RATES" OR "WHAT I'M DOING WOULD BE FRAUD OR DISHONEST".....YOU GUYS NEED TO READ THE WHOLE THREAD AND NOT JUST THE FIRST POST!!! I CLEARLY CLARIFIED MYSELF,...BUT YET YOU STILL INSIST TO MAKE YOUR JUDGEMENTS OF SOMETHING THAT HAS BEEN VOIDED THROUGH CLARIFICATION! BY OPENING YOUR MOUTH BEFORE KNOWING FACTS JUST MAKES YOU LOOK LIKE AN ***!
THIS THREAD IS DONE WITH, I GOT THE INFO I NEEDED. TO THE PEOPLE WHO UNDERSTOOD ME, MUCH RESPECT AND THANKS GO OUT TO YOU. TO THE REST WHO LIKE SHOOTING THEIR MOUTH OFF WITHOUT KNOWING "WHAT'S UP"....TAKE SOME "ACT RIGHT PILLS" AND READ THOROUGHLY. NOTHING WORSE THAN THINKING YOU GOTTA POINT, THEN REALIZE YOU LOOK LIKE A MORON 'CAUSE THE POINT YOU WERE TRYING TO CONVEY IS NOT EVEN AN ISSUE.
It is not worth your honor to try and screw the insurance company, which was never your intention. But, man it would sure feel good.
Now, to get your just revenge.....
A copy of the accident report will contain the womans name and address.....right? Memorize this info. Everytime you pass by one of those "register here for free (fill in the blank)", sign her up. Next, sign her up for every magazine you can find. Stop off at the local Barns and Noble and go through the magazines. They all have subscription cards in them for a free issue and bill me later. Sign her up. I mean for like 100+. You may want to wait a month or so. But in the end, it will be grand.
I did this to a moron who tail gated me in stop in go traffic for 20 minutes waiting to get through a check point. I tried to talk to him and show that it didn't matter how close I followed the car in front of me, I was still not getting through the check point any quicker. He was stuck on the fact there was over a car length between me and the next car. Idiot. Hope he enjoys Teen Beat, and Womens Circle. Cause he is getting them for the rest of his life.
Cheers,

Izzo,
I read this thread in its entirety and the folks that spoke about their rates going up have a valid point. This accident will affect the rates of more people than just the woman who was at fault. The more the insurance company has to pay you, the more impact occurs. The fraud issue would depend on your state laws.
Just my .02 worth and in no way meant to be a flame.
Geeeez izzo......... don't Fizzzo! gots to expect people to speak their piece whether it be good or bad. just roll with the punches Dude! we're all here to help each other out or atleast thats what I thought we were tryin to do
