engine swap 352 to ?

Hello. I am new to forum. I have a 1965 pickup that I would like to pull a 5th wheel camper with and am looking to replacing the motor with something from a later model that would handle the job and get better gas milage that the 352 when not under load. Thanks Curtis. I have enjoyed reading all the questions and comments.

The 352 is a good motor for towing, but you can swap in a slightly bigger 360 and get a lot more power. You could also swap in a 390.

What kind of shape is the truck in? is it capable of towing what you want?

I could buy a truck to pull my 5th wheel probably cheaper than I can fix up my 65 to pull but I want to drive the 65 for a few more years. Anybody can drive a new truck or fairly new but I like the old ones. I run into a truck today that has a 460 with a bad transmission in it I can get for a couple hundred dollars. Has anyone ever put a 460 in a 65 or 66. Curtis

Plenty of folk have put the 460 in the older trucks.... Check in with the 61-66 forum crew, look for FordBoyPete.
