Towing an Explorer

I want to tow my 4x2 2003 Explorer behind my motorhome. Do I need a driveline disconnect? What are the limits of towing an Explorer 4 wheels down? Remco makes a driveline disconnect but is having vibration problems with their driveshaft for the 2003 model.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

The Owner's Guide for my '04 XLT 4X2 says you're limited to 35 mph and 50 miles distance, or the driveshaft must be disconnected. Don't know if anyone makes a disconnect for 4X2's or what it would do to the warranty.

Reason

Dan, The vehicle is designed so that when the engine is running tranny fluid is being pumped and cooled, when being towed the wheels are turning the tranny and no cooling is going on. Heat builds up and you can soon ruin your tranny.

Hope you soon resolve your concern

John
