using cut down front coils as overloads
im thinking about using a pair of front coil springs from a 82 f150 as overloads on the rear of my 86 light duty f250 .the rear springs on this truck suck .they are new and when i picked up my free 93 300/6 the motor was set in the middle of the bed and my rear bumper almost hit the ground .i havent been able to find out the load rating of these springs .the spring code is b6

The idea would probably work. It would involve a good amount of fabrication to mount them and some experimenting with different coil lengths to get it right where you like it. If you have access to a couple pairs of free springs and are a crafty fabricator, I say go for it. Old Chevys used a combination of half-length leaf springs and coils on the rear axle. Some F250's also used that combination in the front.
