Coolant Change
Well it's time... I need to flush, fill and add SCA. Looking for some tips from those who do this on a regular basis. On my 91 IDI is there a special preferred coolant to use or just the green stuff, i'm planning on a 50/50 mix. I was thinking about a deep flush before changing the antifreeze, what flush have you had the best luck with? I'm getting the fleetguard test strips but not sure how much SCA, FW16 to start with on a new fill. Appreciate any tips you can share.

I have a 90. I buy the additive right from Ford. It's only about $6 a bottle. You add according to the capacity of the radiator. I don't know if it is the best or not. Right now I am using the green stuff. It had just been flushed and filled when I got the truck. I hear pros and cons about it. I remember a thread about it not too long ago. If you do a search you might find it. Ford has some heavy duty coolant that I might try the next time. I believe the additive is the most important part. Good luck with your truck.

Ford VC 7a antifreeze, Heavy duty antifreeze, low silicate
DCA 4 SCA
If you drain the oil cooler 4 gallons of antifreeze 2 bottles of DCA 4 and three gallons of water. This is enough to fill the over flow tank as well.
