Bought a 92 2WD SuperCab F150 from a local guy about a month ago. Runs great, but Check Engine light comes on about once every 20 minutes, stays on for about 30 seconds, and goes out. Never stays on continuously.
Should I have this checked? The previous owner said he had it checked, and had the O2 sensor replaced, but it still kept doing it, and had been doing it for the last 4 years with no problems. Just a quirk of the truck, or something I should be worried about? Like I said...truck runs great, gets about 15 mpg.
Have somebody run the codes and see what comes up. The check engine light on my '92 F150 will come on about once every 10 months or so and go out after about 20 seconds. Since yours comes on so regularly I would have it checked out.
You can check the codes yourself (any Haynes or Chilton's manual will have the procedure). The light ALWAYS comes on for a reason, and you should always check out what the computer thinks the reason is. Even if it's just a faulty connection, you'll have an idea about where to start looking.
