Leaky rear window

I have a 97 F-150 with a rear slider.

The back window has started to leak (on the top, just beside the slider). This problem has happened 5 years ago and was fixed under warantee (they replaced the rear glass).

Unfortunally this time the truck is no longer under warantee so, we would like to attempt to fix it ourselves.

We were thinking that adding some "roofing tar" under the plastic trim piece (where the glass seals) might help the leak, unfortunally i've been unable to figure out how to take off the molding. does anybody have a diagram or can walk me through it? Is the trim piece clipped on or screwed?

You really shouldn't use roofing tar to fix a leak in a windshield. Roofing tar is made for filling cracks and sealing a roof, not a truck!!! Completely different materials!

For a quick fix, I would recommend any type of silicone you can find at a hardware store. If you know exactly where it is, put a bead of silicone where it seals, let it dry, and you shouldn't have any more problems.
