Key on, engine off, bad to do?

Key on, engine off, bad to do?
When I was young we hat ignition points and if you did this it could burn out the points. With modern electronic ignition is there a problem to leaving the key on with the engine off? Reason I ask is twofold:
1) Wife likes to run the radio that way (key hard to turn to accessory)
2) have to do that to get mileage from odometer or start engine.

Theoretically you could do it with no harm, but I still think it's not a good idea. With the ignition drawing power, as well as some of the lights on the dash and the engine computer, it's going to drain the battery that much faster.
