I have a question and it may be a stupid one. I know that you can get a suspension lift for explorers, but I want to know if you can buy a body lift. I don't have the money to spend on a suspension lift, so that's why I was hoping I could find a body lift. I've been told that there aren't any, but from an unreliable source and wasn't sure. Any responses please reply to Todzilla_E84(No Email Addresses In Posts!)
they make suspension and body lifts for any explorer 1994 and older....try Trailmaster...James Duff all of em... they may just have to be slightly modified from the Ranger lifts for that year..your lucky...us poor suckers with 1995 and newer are out of luck for any kind of suspension lift other than torsion twists.. but seriously are you going for a lift for tire clearance? looks? or offroad? if it is just for looks and tire clearance then go for the body lift...if you want to do some wheeling pay the extra $150 for the suspension lift... even if it's just leveling coils and shocks..
Thanks for the help. I'll look into it. I want the lift for a mix of looks and playing in the mud. Nothing heavy.
I have one more question for you. Is there any way I can get dual exhaust on my explorer? A friend of mine has it on his ranger and I like the sound. I was told that there was some kind of gas thing in the way and removing it would result in blowing up. Anyway, I'd appreciate it if you could help, if you're not sure, that's ok.
Well I'm not real sure about the older model Explorers but I can tell you my 1996 is dual capable.. are you talking about a Cat-back system to increase flow? or do you want the double pipes sticking out for looks? I would contact your local shop on this. In fact..ya really aren't any obligation... stop in ...let them throw it on the lift and ask lots of questions... I can't think of anything under there that would make your truck blow up...you can ask and get an estimate...then if you feel comfortable enough you can pretty much do it yourself...from what I understand it takes a sunny day and some time to read the directions. My boyfriend did this also to his 97 Ranger...
kit....ask about this....that is probably what you are talking about....increases horsepower... increases airflow...causes the low hum...did your friend get new headers also? that can cause the nice roar from the truck also..
