Engine swap

I have a 76 150 with the 400 automatic 4x4, I want to put in a fresh 390 and C6 that came out of a 75 250 2wd. I have the mounts. Is it a do able swap? I do know the 390 will not mate to the 400 tranny. Thanks for the help. Jim/Cushing, WI

To use the 2wd c-6 you will need to use the tailshaft out of the 4wd c-6 for the proper length and splines.

I am not familier with any of this stuff anymore, is the tranny on the 400 a C6? The reason I ask is that we tried to install a 360 into the truck and the bell housing was wrong. Thanks, Jim/Cushing, WI

both trannys are C-6's, just different bells. The tailshaft length won't let you use the 2wd on the 4wd setup, without tearing the trans totally down to replace the tailshaft, or get a trans for the 390 4wd.
