I may be in S.A. sat. the 4 of Sept. to go to the clash of the titans race to watch a few freinds run their trucks !! I may enter mine if it pulls some good #s at the chassis dyno tommorow!!
Tamie,
You can do it! If you've done some moderate mechanic work such as what you've described.... you can do it! Just take your time. It's not a complicated thing to do, it just takes time to run everything. I don't have it, but I know some people (HeatStroked) have a link you can go to for the directions. I know if you do a search on "gauge install" in the Super Duty section you'll find some hits. Good luck!
Hey 7.3 sled, Thanks for the offer for assistance (if that is what it was) but I don't think I will be ready that soon. So where is this race? I might like to head out there and check it out. Maybe I can find info on the web.
LuLuGoin2ADiesel, I think I will take your advice. This weekend I found some instructions online. I need to read them over closely because I want to make sure it calls for a pre turbo install. From what I have read this is best.
I was telling my boyfriend this weekend that I wanted to install guages and then some mods. He thinks I am wacky. (well maybe a little wacky)
I explained that knowledge is power and if I can see what is going on I am in much better control if something were to start going wrong with the truck. He does not get it. He says that if this was so important that Ford would have installed them at the factory. ???
I will be installing gauges but I was at a loss with his comment.
Can any of you give me some good reasons why Ford does not install these at the factory and why any good Ford Truck Loving individual(FTE) would want to.
My guess would be for the same reason as to why they stopped putting things like hood liner insulation, door lights, etc in the new trucks due to cost cutting. But also..... they do have gauges (water temp, oil pressure, trans temp) but they aren't very accurate. Things like EGT and Boost gauges are important with aftermarket mods because you're running harder and hotter. Perhaps they're trying to prevent that. I'm sure somebody here knows why they don't. Good luck with the install. Tell your man to get with the program! Hee heee! I have the same scenerio with my girlfriend.... seems like she'll never understand the need for gauges, chips/tuners, exhausts, Sonnax valves, etc..... She shops at the mall.... I shop at MotorHaven!
