I'm in the process of fixing up a '72 F-100 Custom I bought a few months back. I know my body paint color--"light ginger metallic"--but I also want to repaint the wheels. On this truck, they're white. Is there a specific paint code I should be looking for (or should I just buy a can of white spray paint and get on with it?)?
Once the wheels are painted, I'd like to get some hubcaps. I know the Custom came with smaller caps than those I see in the catalogs...any suggestions?
Also, the FORD logo on the tailgate is red, and I'd like to get the correct color to re-do that.
Many thanks!
Long Postscript: Thanks also for all the help in the past. My truck is on the road now because a bunch of strangers shared their wisdom on this site (Who'd have thought that dragging brake was caused by a bad wheel bearing?). Kind of restores your faith...
I have a 72 F-100 in light ginger metallic with a wimbleton white top. I painted the wheels wimbleton white also, I used PPG single stage. The body was done in Omni Light Ginger Met. with a PPG clear. If you are going to paint the body, this color does not cover well, plan on buying lots of paint! My tailgate logo was red but I used 3M decals in white, I figure it would look better.
I am using a set of Ford dog dish hubcaps that I have seen on '67 Fairlanes. I was told that they are also used as truck hub caps but have never seen them on one yet.
Hillbilly, where's your pictures at? That sounds like a nice looking color combo. I'm in the same boat . . . just starting a '67 F100 and I'm trying to come up with a paint scheme. My father had a '78 F150 that was something close to Hugger Orange. I might do a two tone orange bottom/white top scheme and call it the Dreamsicle. Thanks.

Reason: additional info
When i got my '72, it was the awful (in my mind) brown lid, with calf**** yellow bottom. It is now Wimbleton White, and is do for another paint job after 12 yrs, and 100,000K. I used to get spray cans of WW at auto store for interior paint and touchups. Some auto paint shops in our area will also put your extra leftover paint into spray aerosol cans for about $10 a can. Then you know you have the same color. White is the hardest color to match up, more shades than any other color, but for rims you just have to get close. Make sure you get all the rust and primer them up first.
