Nerf bar removal

I've got a 1997 F250HD PSD crew cab with Smittybilt nerf bars. These bars bolt right onto the frame. I bought a new set because the passenger side bar was damaged from a parking lot "dumb a**". Went to replace them and ran into a problem.

The previous owner had the bars bolted on, then they welded them to the frame!!!! So I started using a grinder to cut off the welds. After a lot of cutting, I got the back connection off. But I can't get at the front connection because it's to tight in there.

Now, I've been asking around and I've heard to have someone use a torch and cut them off? But I've also heard people say to worry about heating up the frame?

Any suggestions?

you might try a circular saw with an abrasive blade. the blade is thin and might fit where the grinder wheel will not.
