I have 96' 2Dr explorer with a 4.0L V6. There is only so much that you can get out of this little engine. The amount that pick from adding a K&N air filter charger, headers, cat-back, and super chip are marginal. Don't get my wrong, I am not putting down these add-ons, it is just that I am just looking for more. I looked into getting a vortech blower because they made a blower for the 96' ranger. It turns out that the blower would basically work for my explorer, except there is no room in the engine compartment for all the plumbing that comes with the blower. So after that dead-end, I have started to look into changing the engine that is in my explorer. Possibly the 4.0L V6 SOHC or the 5.0L V8 that is found in the bigger explorers. My main problem is that my explorer is a manual and it is 4x4.

The company Explorer Express markets a BBK supercharger for 4.0 explorers, I don't know if they are only for 91-94's or not. Or trade the truck in on a v8 model.
