Painted Flares vs. Tire Spray

I painted my bushwacker fender flares today and could not be happier with how the paint looks. I used Martin Senour AE without a hardner. The only thing I'm concerned with now is if debris flying off the tires will slowly sandblast the paint off. Has anyone had this happen? If so, I was thinking of adding some clear vinyl film on the inside edges of the flares. Thanks for your help.

if you did not use a hardner in the clear coat it will eventually get rock chips. the clear vinyl film would be a good idea. but i would wait till after the paint cures for a while cause that vinyl might hold the fumes in and might cause it to haze. best bet would be to clear over a couple coats with hardner in it or get some gravel guard which is like a very hard clear.

Yep, I'll wait a month or so and then put some vinyl on there. Thanks

welcome, i was talking to a guy today and he said that the vinyl might breath. ask someone and if it does you can put it on sooner. i would figure since the vinyl is plastic it would not breath.
