Braking when hot. You mean when the brakes are hot or when the truck is hot? After a descend from a hill? If thats the case you may have air in the system or cheap pads. Some cheap pads don't work well when they heat up...
It is a work truck that I drive the heck out of all day. Stop and go. It has always seemed to have very responsive brakes in the past, but this day I applied brakes sharply and it was almost like pushing on a sponge. No response.
It was a hot day and also at the end of my day.
You may want to alter your driving style some and use the gears to slow down, accelerate smoothly, maintain longer following distances, start coasting when you see traffic slowing down far ahead of you instead of staying on the gas and then braking hard at the end. You'll probably get better mileage that way too...
Driving defensively is something I try to do on a daily basis, however if someone pulls out in front of you and you have to apply your brakes sharply, it's comforting to know they will be there when you need them. My problem with this situation is they did not react to the situation at all. i am looking for a reason these brakes would fail.
