I'm confused. I've checked two dealers inventory online for 2005, F-250, CC, 4x4, 6.0L. Out of some 20 trucks only 2 have the tow command brake controller, and all of them have the $100+ adjustable pedals. This just seems backwards to me. While I would never order the adjustable pedals, I can understand the dealers stocking them. But... why on earth would they ever order even one truck w/o the controller (one truck even had no controller, but did have the upfitter switches).
Yeah I don't get it... I went by a local dealer yesterday to see how they interior (and controller) looked while waiting for my ordered '05 to arrive. Not one of them had the controller.
I ordered an F350 on monday and my dealer told me my order was placed on hold due the tow command option. He told me that if I droped that option the order would proceed without any problem.
I think the dealer gets whatever Ford sends them, especially when its an all new model. I dont think they have any say on what their instock models are equipped with.
My understanding is they get what they ORDER
Sometime a low volume dealer will only be allowed to receive some percentage of his order with a particular "shortage" option. Higher volume or fleet dealers will be alocated a higher percentage of the shortage item.
In some rare cases Ford "pushes" a particular model at some regional dealers. My 2001 Platimum was a "push" truck to my dealer. He got two, a PSD and a V10, the PSD jumped off the lot. The V10 hung around for over 6 months before I got it WELL BELOW invoice.
