Question Hose dragging under tranny

Please help. On my '99 PSD standard transmission I just noticed a black hose, approximatley 3/8ths inch I.D. dragging under the tranny. One end is attached to the transfer case, but I cannot find a fitting anywhere to reattach the other end. It seems to reach forward to the tranny. Seems like a vacume hose, but I am only guessing.

Any help would be appreciated as I can only imagine what the dealer will charge to reattach something simple like this.

It could just be the vent line. I will have to get under my truck this morning and look but I don't remeber any lines running between the t-case and tranny. Does your truck have the electronic shift on the fly t-case?

I agree psdpower. It's most likely the vent line. What you need to do rjwood5 is to reattach the hose so the end of the hose is right up to the bottom of the cab, as high as possible without making a major project out of it. I am not certain but I think there is a little cap on the end of the hose with an oriface in it to keep water out. If that cap is missing then I would orient the hose so that the end is pointing down, preventing water from being scooped up by the hose and ending up in the transfer case.

Thanks guys. It did not look like the hose was attached to anything and I wondered if it was a vent hose. There is no attachment to the end to keep water out. I will try to reroute it and see if any problems develop.
