Hey all. I've got an '88 Bronco II, an '89 Bronco, and a '93 Explorer. I search these forums for suggestions quite a bit, so I thought I'd share a solution (found thru no genius of mine) to a problem I've been having with the BII (2.9L). The symptoms started that when the truck was cold, I couldn't keep it running. It would start right up, but it would stall almost immediately if I didn't keep my foot on the gas. If I could keep it running long enough to get out of the driveway, it would even out after a few minutes driving. Recently though, it wouldn't stay running no matter how much gas I gave it or driving I did. I pulled the codes, and got something about an intermitten spark signal (sorry, can't remember the number). I decided the most likely problem was the ignition module. I pulled it, had it tested, and it was bad. I was very happy. I put the new one on, started it up, AND IT DIED! I was very mad. I was starting to suspect low fuel pressure, but I don't have a guage to check. I cleaned the injectors and ran some SeaFoam through the manifold... lots of smoke, but no better. I have a friend who, every time something goes wrong with one of these truck, says "could it be the MAP sensor?" And I say no. She apparently thinks this is hilarious. But I was at a loss and had a spare in the parts box. Guess what? The truck's running better now than when I bought it... and someone's laughing her butt off at me! Anyway, I don't know how common it is for both of these to go at the same time. But if you're having this problem, maybe it's something to consider. Hope this helps someone!
