Question Need help with a 302 project.

I’m new to this so please be patient. I have a ford courier that I put a 80 model 302 in. I’m using a c4 with a 68-mustang drive train. The valves seem to float at around 5800 RPM. My questions is. What cam would I need to get me up to 6000 rpm with out floating the valves? Also I plan on using a 100 shot of nitrous to help me with this.

your problem is not the cam but rather the valve springs if you are floating the springs are not heavy enough for the cam you are running, or they are just weakened from bieng to old, if you are going to run nitrous look for a dual pattern cam with atleast 10deg more exhaust duration. I really don't want to recommend a particular cam without any more info on the engine but that is the basics

Thanks

Thank you for your reply. I will look into replacing the springs. I don't want to put a lot of money in this engine. I'm looking to go with a 351w. Just trying to have fun until then. Thanks again and have a great day
