How much should I pay to re-program???

Today I went to a Ford only hot rod shop to ask a few questions about my Expy and more power. I explained I only wanted simple stuff for now until my warranty expires. He told me he could re-program my computer including tranny shift points and complete chassis dyno for about $450.00. After I picked my jaw up off the ground and was able to talk in complete sentences after that shock, I asked him what would that do for me? He stated I should only see about a 12 to 18 hp gain, and maybe 15 to 25 ft. lbs of torque...That does not sound like a fair deal to me! I'm open to any other suggestions, but keep in mind, I dont want to go too far until my warranty expires. Thanks.

I guess it depends on how much time they spend on the dyno etc as to whether or not it's worthwhile.
For that much money though, I'd buy my own Tuner from http://www.motorhaven.com/customer/home.php?cat=169 and do some experimenting on my own.

I second the superchips tuner motion. This is the most flexible option and enables you to program, customize and deprogram at your convenience. I've had one for a couple years and couldn't imagine not having the gains.
